Memories in Colour & Song and the connection we could create with rural communities

Sometimes connection begins with something very small: a colour, a familiar song, a view through a window or a moment that brings people together.

Memories in Colour & Song is a creative wellbeing practice based in Fife. I founded it to create shared moments of presence, expression and connection through colour, song and the changing seasons. It is warm, welcoming and non-clinical, with a gentle invitation to pause, notice and take part.

I created Memories because I know personally how much a small moment can matter. When I lost my own connection with music and familiar words, creativity, colour and noticing the world around me helped that connection return. From this came the invitation at the heart of everything we do: We Begin With a Moment.

Through the Window is the living creative practice of Memories in Colour & Song. It invites people to see and feel the gorgeousness already around us—a view from a window, light across a landscape, a familiar sound or the subtle changes of a season. These everyday moments can open memory, conversation, creativity and connection.

The Four Seasons Collection carries that invitation through spring, summer, autumn and winter. It gives us a way to return—to the seasons, to creativity, to one another and to the places we call home.

Rural halls, community hubs, groups and local organisations already hold the relationships, stories and sense of place that bring people together. Memories can bring a distinctive creative wellbeing experience through welcoming workshops, seasonal gatherings and shared moments shaped around each community.

If we work together, we could create new reasons to gather, make participation accessible and enjoyable, celebrate the character of a place and build shared experiences across the year. This could begin with one creative gathering, a small pilot or a longer seasonal collaboration, agreed together and rooted in the community.

At the heart of it is connection. One small moment can become a conversation, a memory, something created or simply a moment to share—helping people feel present and connected to one another and to the gorgeousness around them.

An Invitation to Rural Communities

Memories in Colour & Song would love to hear from rural community spaces, halls, hubs, groups and local organisations that would like to participate or explore what we could create together.

Your community could:

• Begin with a shared Through the Window moment inspired by your own place.

• Host a welcoming creative gathering or seasonal experience.

• Take part in Share One Moment through a photograph, colour, song, a few words or something created.

• Explore a small pilot, a commissioned experience or a longer seasonal collaboration.

• Simply start with a conversation about what would feel right for your community.

Participation can begin very simply. You do not need a finished idea or a large programme. One noticed moment, one shared invitation or one gathering can be the beginning.
